The Share a Square picnic blanket is made to bring people together! Make a Share a Square and invite your friends and community to do the same! When you've all made one, you can get together and create an infinitely growing picnic blanket!
The Share a Square picnic blanket came out of my want to bring community together to connect and share space. The picnic blanket features button loops on the under side and buttons on the upper side to connect with other blankets. The pattern is designed to be beginner friendly and uses loops instead of button holes for ease of construction.
Main fabric-The Picnic Blanket works best made with light to mid-weight natural fabrics like cotton.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you could also piece your main fabric together out of scraps to make a patchwork blanket, or quilt it!
Lining- Lining is optional for the underside of the blanket. Similar to the main fabric, a light to mid-weight natural fabric is recommended. Alternatively, a waterproof fabric or quilted fabric could be used as well.
The Share a Square picnic blanket can be cut from any fabric 110cm width or wider, and requires 1.2M for the main fabric and 1.1M for the optional lining.

The pattern includes a printable A4 template for markings with the option to reference a dimensions sheet if no printer is available. Detailed instructions are also included.
